Code export · React and Swift

One graph, three homes

We’ve exported two full apps from NodeGX and tested them end to end: a to-do list and a quiz game. Every step we tested did the same thing in the exported app as in the original.

The to-do list went to React, for the web, and to Swift, for the iPhone. We signed in, added a task, closed one with a note and restarted the app. At each step all three versions showed the same lists and saved the same changes.

The quiz game went to React. We made a new set of questions, renamed one, edited one and deleted one, then reloaded the page. The exported game kept exactly what the original keeps.

Three phone-width screens per row: the original to-do list, the React export and the Swift app. Row one after adding 'Pick up the dry cleaning'. Row two: the note box 'What happened?' open over the list in all three. Row three after closing 'Write the release notes'.
The to-do list after adding a task, with the note box open, and after closing a task. Left to right: the original, the React export and the Swift app.

What’s left

A few parts don’t come across yet. In the to-do list, the dark colour theme and drag to reorder are two of them. Before it writes any code, the export lists every part it leaves out.

The Swift app has run in Apple’s iPhone simulator. Running it on a real phone and publishing it to the App Store are still to come.
